Medcaid’s vision was to educate healthcare workers on ‘unconscious’ bias. Healthcare workers engage with patients and families of all ethnicities and walks of life. The goal of the partnership was to expose healthcare workers to bias they may not even be aware of in themselves. Medicaid chose health care clinics as the setting/environment.

Solution

Spinar America designed and created Virtual Reality (VR) software for Oculus Quest 2 to immerse healthcare workers into the ‘actual’ experience patients had when visiting a clinic. The experience profoundly demonstrated lack of engagement on the part of workers and insensitivities that can occur without appropriate awareness. Spinar America’s software solution included usage and quantification and was determined by Medicaid as being an enormously successful initiative.
